Newly Announced PlayStar Casino Signs GiG as Platform Provider
Last week we broke the news that a new online casino was coming to NJ, PlayStar Casino. While the operator is not going live for some time (launch exp. Q4 2021), things are heating up in the preparations department. This week, PlayStar secured its platform provider, striking a deal with GiG (current provider for Ocean Online Casino).
PlayStar Casino co-founder, Adam Noble said of the deal:
“Gaming Innovation Group has earned a reputation for being a very formidable and trusted technology partner in Europe, so when we were assessing platforms for our market entry into New Jersey, we were very confident in selecting GiG as our platform partner […] PlayStar Casino is setting out to offer an online casino experience with a difference that will stand out from the current offerings in the market. Our player experience focus, centred on a unique product offering, engaging frontend concept and personalisation will result in an immersive and entertaining experience for the player. We have big plans for New Jersey and other US states and look forward to making our debut in the Garden State later this year.”
GAN Announces Record Super Bowl Bet Revenue and Expands Deal with Parx Casinos
GAN registered an incredible 186% monetary rise in settled bets at last Sunday’s Super Bowl (that’s a $14.6m increase on last year). Surfing high on this success, GAN and Parx Casino also agreed to extend their current partnership with Parx licensing GAN’s new proprietary tech, the iBridge integration framework (a system to integrate online and offline reward schemes).
Golden Nugget Announces GGR (iGaming) up 65% in 2020
Golden Nugget online has announced its gross gaming revenue for 2020, reporting a booming 65.8% rise in its online sector revenues. This continues the US trend towards increased online gaming, which saw revenues soar across 2020 as land-based casinos closed. This comes hot on the heels of news from MGM Resorts, who reported a total revenue falls of 60% across 2020, mostly due to land-based closures worldwide, prompting them to announce a renewed iGaming drive for 2021.
Washington and Connecticut in Discussions Over Gambling Reform
Both Washington and Connecticut have seen movement towards iGaming reform this week. However, with tribal gaming pacts in both states (and considerable senate opposition in Washington), each is currently seeking a path forward for online gaming.
In CT, Governer Ned Lamont proposed a budget measure that would allow him to approve iGaming between 2022-23, amending current gambling pacts and opening up the market for online reform. Meanwhile, in Washington, Bill 5212 was heard in the chamber’s Committee on Labour and Tribal Affairs, where it was met with strong opposition. Arguments against reform asserted that it would take money out of the local economy, not bolster it.
